Privacy Policy
Read this before you launch
The text below is a working structure, not finished legal copy. Shopify can generate a privacy policy filled in with your actual business details: go to Shopify admin → Settings → Policies → Privacy policy → Insert template, then paste the result over this page. Because this store is UK-registered, UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply, and an inaccurate privacy policy is a compliance risk rather than a presentation problem. Have it reviewed before you take your first order.
This policy describes how Petnosia collects, uses and protects your personal information when you shop with us.
Information we collect
When you place an order we collect the information needed to fulfil it: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, and the details of what you bought. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by us.
When you browse the store we also collect technical information automatically, such as your device and browser type, IP address and the pages you viewed, through cookies and similar technologies.
How we use your information
- To process and deliver your order, and to send order and shipping confirmations.
- To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
- To screen orders for fraud or other risk.
- To improve the store and understand how customers use it.
- To send marketing messages, where you have agreed to receive them.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that make the store work — for example Shopify, which powers this store, our payment processor, and the carrier delivering your parcel. We also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
Editable placeholder — your processors. List the specific third parties you actually use (payment provider, shipping carrier, email marketing tool, analytics, any apps installed on the store). Naming them is a UK GDPR transparency expectation.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, send a request through our contact form.
Data retention
Editable placeholder — retention periods. State how long you keep order records and customer accounts. Note that UK tax rules require transaction records to be kept for a set number of years, so this cannot simply be “until you ask us to delete it”.
Cookies
This store uses cookies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, and understand how the store is used.
Editable placeholder — cookie banner. UK and EU visitors must be able to consent to non-essential cookies. Shopify offers a cookie banner under Settings → Customer privacy. Turn it on and describe your cookie categories here.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. The current version always appears on this page.
Contact and complaints
If you have a question about this policy or how your information is handled, reach us through our contact form.
Editable placeholder — data controller details and ICO. UK GDPR requires you to identify the data controller (your trading name and registered address) and to tell people they can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Add both here once you decide what business details to publish.
